Hi Deidre I had some help on the list with finding the baptism of my William SCURLOCK (my ggg grandfather). He was the William Posthumous SCURLOCK baptised in Llanstadwell in 1815 just a few weeks after the death of his 25 year old father, also a William SCURLOCK. William was the third born son and not only took his father's Christian name but the fact that his father died before his birth was also recognised in the baptismal register. Since his 1815 baptism I have not come across the 'Posthumous' bit again. He didn't use it on his marriage certificate and he is never referred to as William P SCURLOCK on any census entry. In the IGI his is just given as William SCURLOCK for the baptisms of his children. Hope this helps. Do you think your James Posthumous LAWSON might have been baptised after the death of his father? Best wishes Carol in Berkshire
