Hi listers At long last I've got my 18,050 record database into Filemaker Pro format that I can use on my MAC. Infinitely better than the dBase III+ software on a 13 year old 680k memory (!) PC that were the previous vehicles for the information. I shall now start adding to the database when I have the time. If anyone has asked me any questions that have not been answered please ask again. Any new questions? Remember it's a FULL transcription. The list of parishes covered are: Ambleston Boulston Brawdy Camrose Castlebythe Fishguard Granston Haroldston West Hayscastle Henry's Moat Jordanston Lambston Letterston Little Newcastle Llandeloy Llanfair-nant-y-gof Llanhowell Llanllawer Llanreithan Llanrhian (includes village of Trevine) Llanstinan Llanwnda (includes village of Goodwick) Llanychaer Manorowen Mathry Nolton Pontfaen Prendergast (North) Puncheston Roch Rudbaxton St David's St Dogwells St Edrins St Elvis St Lawrence St Nicholas Spittal Treffgarne Wiston Uzmaston Walton East Whitchurch (includes village of Solva) and, further south St Ishmaels and half of Hubberston. Dear Gerry, I was prompted to write to you because of your offer and because of this record in the 1881 census where I found some interesting connections,30 years later:- Dwelling: Market St Census Place: Llanelly, Carmarthen, Wales Source: FHL Film 1342295 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 5374 Folio 144 Page 30 Marr Age Sex Birthplace John HARRIES U 51 M Fishguard, Pembroke, (you found him age 10 in '41/folio.008) Rel: Head Occ: Boot & Shoe Manufacturer ( same as John Davies of Fishguard) W. N. REES U 19 M Fishguard, Pembroke, Wales Rel: Nephew Occ: Draper John H. DAVIES U 20 M Newport, Pembroke, Wales ( John's grandson?) Rel: Nephew Occ: Outfitter (Carter) John FRANCIS 15 M Llanelly, Carmarthen, Wales ( I have Francis in my family too. Ann Rel: Nephew Occ: Outfitter (Carter) DAVIES married Thos. FRANCIS) Ann DANIEL U 22 F Llanelly, Carmarthen, Wales Rel: Serv Occ: Domestic Servant Thanks for the offer to check parishes or is it just a census ? You helped me some time ago with HARRIES/HARRY family of Fishguard. My William HARRIES was a mariner. I have the details of his marriage and that of Henry Davies. Please see below. 3-5-1814 William Harries Mariner and Margaret Meyler Fishguard Parish church I found these in IGI Mary HARRIES Christening: 20 Nov 1814 Fishguard, Pembroke, Wales Father: William HARRIES Mother: Margret Ann HARRIES who married John DAVIES, son of Henry(1839) Christening: 16 Nov 1817 Fishguard, Pembroke, Margart HARRIES Christening: 7 Dec 1819 Fishguard, Pembroke, Wales John HARRIES- in 1851 census he is down as 21 Christening: 15 Sep 1829 Fishguard, Pembroke, Wales Father: William HARRIES Mother: Margaret You gave me a Mary and John HARRY in 1841 and John and Ann DAVIES born the same year rounded off to 20 in 1841 but really 23 with 1 year old William. They later moved to Llanelly. This fits the above dates and other confirmed Parish dates. I think mary must have been an earlier child of Margaret(MEYLER) and William HARRY/HARRIES-mariner. I am writing this to ask now if you have any burial record of a William HARRIES,please? Could he have died at sea? One man wrote to me ages ago that he may have captained the SIlicia but he wanted 20 pounds for detailed information. I didn't bite! You also said you may have more on Meylers in 1841. I haven't got any further and I am now interested in finding a little more or how to.. before I came to Fishguard in October this year. Forgive my detailed lengthy note. It was ayear ago that you sent me the HARRY information which I did appreciate. You also told me of Davies sp. DAVIS in the census. DAVIES /Called DAVIS 16-12-1817 Henry Davies cooper and Ann Griffith, Fishguard Parish church. I just wondered if there was any way to go back further. I think they may have been non-conformist. You gave me his brother as Thomas DAVIES/DAVIS shoemaker age 55 in 1841 I've found that Thomas Davies witnessed John Davies marriege to Ann HARRIED in 1839 in Fishguard so maybe he was apprenticed to his uncle. Henry must have died before 1841 as he was not in the census at all. Perhaps there are others out there lookig for HARRIES or PEmbrokeshire DAVIES or Griffiths. I'd love to find out. With thanks for all you have offered in the past. Just hoping you can advise me now. Best wishes, Jane
