The Major's entry for Orielton, Hundleton, includes a sketch of the mansion...most imposing. He says it was formerly in St. Nicholas, Monkton parish. It was in possession of the Wyrriotts and their descendants for 750 years. One of the descendants is the former husband of Princess Anne...Captain Mark Phillips. It was sold in 1857 to Mark Anthony Saurin who was High Sheriff in 1867. A. G. Gaddum, High Sheriff, owned it in 1943. Today it's a field centre. I've looked in Mr. Richard Rose's recently published "Pembroke People" for you. These names are by occupation. Shown as a Mason is William DUGGAN, h. Dianah (sic) _____. (01/04/1853 Monkton according to 1861 census). Later listed as miller & mason. His mother, grandmother and sister were all schoolteachers, possibly or probably locally? Is there anything in the records of Orielton House you think could be of interest to me? Your help is much appreciated. John Richards. (London UK) Searching RICHARDS, WIFFEN, DAY (London & Middx.)
