    1. Re: [WLS-PEM] FARRANT, Albert - c.1900 - Pembroke Dock area...
    2. Hi Mark Sorry!! I got a bit carried away there - I'll go and rest my brain and maybe someone will come up with something sensible for you. Seriously though if I were you I'd probably try looking for Albert (the elder's) marriage, that way at least you should have an age for him and his father's name and you could try looking for them on the 1901 census. Best wishes Sandra Markie <mark.kirbys@btinternet.com> wrote: Hi Sandra .... Many thanks for this.. If Albert died in 1979 aged 62 then he would have been born in 1917 ?? This Albert is more likely to be the Albert I listed amongst Albert FARRANTs children. I know that Albert was Albert's eldest son so this does tie-in? From this we might also reasonably say that Albert (the elder) was probably born before 1900. Any more ideas? Many thanks again Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: sandradmailbox-familytree@yahoo.co.uk To: Markie Sent: Friday, April 01, 2005 12:04 PM Subject: Re: [WLS-PEM] FARRANT, Albert - c.1900 - Pembroke Dock area... Hello Mark There is an Albert William FARRANT listed on http://www.remembranceonline.co.uk/parcgwyn/ as having died in 1979 aged 62. If this is the one you're looking for then that would give him a birth year of approx 1907 which isn't far out of your estimation. That year is searchable on the downloadable indexes on Freebmd. I couldn't resist a quick search of the births and did find one Albert William FARRENT, but he was registered in Wandsworth district in September Qtr of 1907 (Refs. 1d 483) I only searched 1907, so you may want to expand to the years either side. Hope this is useful. Sandra Markie <mark.kirbys@btinternet.com> wrote: Dear List, I have been attempting to set a close friend of mine off on the great quest that is genealogy. Unfortunately he knows very little about his background and we are hoping for a spark of crucial information to set us in the right direction. I posted a query a couple of weeks back regarding this FARRANT family. Peter Haydn FARRANT was born in 28th April 1929 we believe in Pembroke Dock or surrounds. He married a Dorothy SILINCE. We have now discovered further information regarding Peters' parents and siblings. His father was an Albert FARRANT who married a Martha ELLINS. We also know that Albert and Martha had 8 children. Albert, Peter, George, Michael, Toni, Sheila, Nancy and Gwendoline (died aged 21). By reasonable extrapolation it seems likely that Albert FARRANT would have been born somewhere between 1892 and 1905 and therefore married sometime between 1912 and 1925. It was always thought that he was born in the Pembroke Dock area but there is no evidence for this - certainly all or most of his children were born there. Any help that anyone can provide regarding Albert FARRANT of the FARRANT family in general would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks Mark Kirby

    3. Hi Roland This is really difficult - so I started thinking outside the square..... There seems to be a couple of families in MONMOUTH in 1901! Here is the one with Albert - they are all living together: Mary Farrant 2 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale Albert Farrant 7 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale Betrice Farrant 10 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale Cienwon Farrant 12 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale Maria Farrant 14 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale George Farrant 20 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale Coal Hewer Henry Farrant 23 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale Coal Hewer Job Farrant 48 England N K Monmouth Ebbwvale Coal Hewer John Farrant 21 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale Coal Hewer Sarah Farrant 23 Monmouth Cwm Monmouth Ebbwvale If this is the correct Albert - he would be old enough to have had a son in 1917 - and called him Albert william FARRANT. You need to look up the actual census entry to see the relationships - Job may be the father I have more information on this family although I can't find John 21, Henry 23, or George 20, in 1881 yet ( not showing as born in MON anyway ! ) Births Sep 1875 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Farrant Maria Jane Pontypridd 11a 370 this looks like Job FARRANT in 1881 but the age is wrong !!: Household: Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability Frederick G.
