Henry In response to your message about RICHARDS and WEBB. I had originally pegged your William RICHARDS and Ann WEBB as my ggg grandparents William and Ann RICHARDS who produced a family in Monkton, Pembs but with your email and having just gone back through my data and notebooks I wonder if perhaps been barking along the wrong branch! I'll explain below but first I should tell you that I searched the Amroth records (Bishops Transcripts 1799 - 1899) and found no baptism records for either Ann WEBB or William RICHARDS (for the approx dates of their births) although I did confirm their marriage ("William RICHARDS of the parish of Moncton or St Nicholas bachelor and Ann WEBB spinster of this parish were married by banns with consent of parish 26 of January 1834. Richard MORGAN and Geo HUGHES witnesses") The Monkton reference in the RICHARDS - WEBB marriage entry (as well as the date) convinced me that these were my ggg g-parents. My William and Ann's first child, James Thomas RICHARDS was baptised in Monkton in Jan 1836 and the Monkton baptisms of their children continue until the 6th child Martin RICHARDS (bp Sept 1850) (details below). Their 5th child was my gg grandfather Thomas RICHARDS bp 1845 and it is Thomas's marriage certificate (to Ann COLE 30 Nov 1867) that lists his father as William RICHARDS (a carpenter). As stated above, I can find no William RICHARDS of the appropriate age bp in Amroth but there are a several baptisms in the Monkton parish records: 12 May 1805 son of Richard Shea and Catherine; 27 Nov 12805, son of Richard Llewhellin and Sarah; and 29 May 1814 son of James Richards and Martha. The 1814 William is a possible candidate for my ggg g-father William as it corresponds to the1881 Monkton census William RICHARDS widower, occ. carpenter b abt 1814 and living with 11 year old daughter Mary Ann (born St Mary's some 20 years after the last William - Ann Monkton-baptised child making me wonder if this is the same William RICHARDS "carpenter"). Anyway perhaps we can see if we can get our respective 3xg grandfathers worked out! Excuse me if I put in my pennyworth! Although I was Middlesex born and brought up, my paternal line is very much Pembrokeshire. My Grandfather was John Duggan Richards (b. Monkton 01/04/1853) and his line goes back to 1793 when Joseph RICHARDS was born. I do not yet know where but he is buried at St Twynnelles and there are many others relations born and died in that tip of the county. Further details on request off list. John Richards.
