    1. Re: [WLS-PEM] Jenkins
    2. Hi Anthony, What a pleasant surprise - I wasn't expecting to get a possible contact! I am helping a friend of mine look into her family tree on the JENKINS side as she is not a computer user. I have just been talking to her on the phone to make sure that I give you correct information as it is known at the moment. Where to start?! There was a JOHN JENKINS b 1844 whose father was a LEVI JENKINS b1814 and his mother was a Margaret (nee Johns) b about 1818. Levi died in 1859 and as John was only 14 yrs of age then he went to live with his Uncle ABEDNEGO JENKINS b. about 1818/19. I am hoping to see both of them in the same household on the 1861 which is why I posted the email asking SKS to do a look-up for me. When JOHN JENKINS grew up he married and had a number of children one of whom was also named LEVI JENKINS (born about 1878), The name Orielton as a place or as a school is unkonwn to us so I can't throw any light on that, but the Biblical names you commented on I believe reflect the religious background of many families of that time as there was a strong nonconformist section of the population in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire as I understand it. So I am finding that names which seem unusual to us were actually more common at the time than I had thought. The only other information I can give which may help you decide whether or not your Jenkins family and that of my friend is the same one, is this: JOHN JENKINS had brothers ELIAS JENKINS b about 1839, MORGAN JENKINS b. about 1847, and GAD JENKINS b. about 1849. I hope this helps and I will be looking forward to hearing from you again. Best Wishes, Jan PS If anyone else reading this can add to our knowledge of this family, especially on the 1861 census, I would be really pleased if you would contact me. Thanks in advance, Jan
