    3. Dear Vivien, That sounds an interesting book.......how far back in time does it reach? The 1881 census shows a John Laugharne (Ag. Lab.)aged 21 living at Gwaunnydd, Newport, with his parents Daniel (Ag. Lab.)aged 53 (born Newport) and Catherine aged 54. A 19 years old married daughter named Ann Davies is also living with them accompanied by her 9 month old baby Catherine Davies. Daniel and the baby Catherine are the only two born Newport, the rest were all born Nevern. There is a lot of information about deeds for Bury/Berry on The National Library website, but I don't remember seeing anything about employees, especially the Laugharne name in this connection. I'm following up a story in Martin Lewis "Newport Pem. and > Fishguard Revisited" pub 2003 about a John Laugharne from Berry Hill > who drowned in the Nevern estuary (no date given but it was sometime > before 1894 when the bridge was built).
