    1. Trying to trace a SKYRME researcher called Clive PINCH

    3. Heartfelt thanks to Gareth, our List-Admin ! Via Gareth's prompt response to me yesterday (sent within 70 mins of my making my search posting, even on a Sunday), I was pointed to a [free!] internet web site archival site at URL http://www.archive.org/ which indeed does contain several "snapshots" taken until mid-2003 of the Clive Pinch material that previously had just been hinted at in other references I had found. This archive site was previously unknown to me and I will have to see how it works; it could be useful for many purposes, I just wonder how large it is and what is funding its continued existence. Not only does this archive of the material that I had been seeking reveal many, many of the pages of Clive Pinch's tree and associated comments, as well mirroring the original site organisation, it also includes a 24 KB GEDCOM file that he had made available for downloading, containing many of the SKYRM(E) names in which I am interested, and validating (for what it is worth .... :-) ) most of what I had already had established. This takes us back now to a John SKYRME (born 1749, died 1845 in Manorbier, and who married an Elizabeth MAURICE in October 1774). How to set about peeling away that particular onion, I wonder? I have to jump in quick if I know the answer, not that often on this list :-) The Internet Archives site does have a detailed background page, under 'About IA' in top menu.
