Enumerators sometimes used this column for physical problems other than those listed (which were deaf, blind or lunatic). Hello Vaughan George Aveston married Sarah Rees in 1800 and John Aveston married Margaret Hart. both in Dale, so I imagine their children were baptized there. The registers are at the National Library, Aberystwyth. There were Avistons in Dale in 1891 and Vaughan Aveston aged 26 and Willhelmine Aveston aged 16, both born LLanstadwell, were living in High Street Llanstadwell in 1891 with their step father Thomas Jones (born Tenbury, WOR) and his wife Jane (born Llangwm). Do you know which Aveston Jane was married to? Gerry Lewis
Dear Vaughan, John Aveston married Margaret Hart 1811 and George Aveston married Sarah Rees 1800...both at Dale....take your pick! (Joking) I don't have baptismal records, but using this marriage information, Haverfordwest Records Office could possibly tell you if John born around 1811 (with a year or two leeway either side) was baptised ....and to which father. Haverfordwest could supply you with copies of the actual parish register marriage entries, if you wish to find out witness names. Yesterday I was looking at a microfilm of Bishops' transcripts, at the local Family History Ctr. The records pertain to the Parish of Llys-y-fran, and on occasion visiting curates officiated at weddings or burials. The one I am interested in is: Burial No.15; Evan Badham of Llys-y-fran Village, Nov 26th 1819, Age 91 Person officiating at ceremony: Ste. Evans- Curate of Langolman Can anyone tell me what Ste. stands for? Any ideas why a life-long resident (as far as I currently know) of one village would have a curate from another village officiating? Rachel Boyd Meriden CT USA
Hi Gareth, I had better volunteer for St Dogmaels - don't want "my" parish to be missed out:-) Regards Bill G-J
Is this a problem? I have received little mail but assumed this was a post Holiday lull. Am still subscribed so it's not that. Tried to mail with no luck. Any one else having problems? Sue in LLantrisant. ******************************************************

If you find that your connection is with George Aveston who married Sarah Rees of Dale perhaps we could talk further. By the 1820's/1830's there are two Rees families in Dale, both of whom are my direct ancestors(my paternal grandfather Edward Rees was born in Dale in 1892). I have not researched either of those families back any further yet but believe that in such a small place there must be a connection somewhere. In the wonderful genuki page on lighthouse keepers there is a William Rees of Dale born 1820 who fits date wise with one of my lot. Many of them were connected someway with Trinity House. Greetings listers... Gleanings from God's Acre, published 1903, which lists many baptisms, marriages, deaths and MI's from "The Hundred of Lleyn and Commot of Eifionydd", is now available on the OGRE website. I have scanned each page and placed them on-line with a thumbnail index. Unfortunately, there is not a surname index for this book, but the pages are grouped by churchyard. The URL is: http://www.cefnpennar.com/bolindex.htm Hope this is of some help...
