    3. Hello again, Yes, my records are close, except that the George (Baddam) you have as abt.1785, I chose to date about 1780 (died before 1841c), because he was married on May 7,1803, without any mention of parental consent, to Elizabeth Morgan. I have a copy of his marriage in Begelly [PRO ref MF276]. Tho.S.I.Thomas,Rector; in the presence of John Jones and Susan Parsell. George's 2nd son was WILLIAM, b.1811 d.1868, married Esther Davies: my GGGparents. George's 5th son was Thomas, b.1819, married Mary Childs, Oct 22, 1848. John Baddam, I presume to be George's brother, because they had a double wedding on May 7th, 1803. John married Ann Sanders. His 1st son was also a William b. Jan 1804. The Thomas who married Elizabeth Nash, was JOHN's 2nd known son..b.Nov 1809. John's other children were: George b.Feb 1811, m.Mary Ann Davies Dec 1839, head of Manorbier Badhams, my 5th cousin's gggparents. Sarah b. aug 1817 m. Thomas Davies Dec 19, 1835 I hope that helps, Rachel Allan Richards <allanandmadge@btinternet.com> wrote: Hi again, Getting a bit muddled here trying to fill in the gaps. George Badham abt.1785 - was my husband Allan's 3 x Gt . Grandfather and he is descended from George's son Thomas. You and Allan have a common ancestor in George abt. 1785 and you are descended from William son of George and brother of Thomas. I have found a marriage for William to Esther Davies in 1834 at Begelly, please will you confirm that this is correct. By the way there are still many Badhams in this area. Regards Frances

    3. Frances wrote: Hi Rachel, Thankyou for the reply. I have amended my records in respect of Robert. Otherwise we more or less agree, except that I have dates of death for Ann(e) 21/6/1840, age 9wks. and Abraham 9/9/1841 age 2mths. These were taken from the parish records. If you are interested to find out more about Begelly and it's history, I recommend the following book, (certain members of the Badham family are mentioned in it.) There are also many interesting picture and photos. It is called - The Story of Begelly by W.R. Morgan ISBN 0 85088 703 8. It may be out of print by now but worth obtaining. You may of course have already read it. There are lots of Badhams still around this area. May I ask did your ancestor William emigrate to America or is it coincidence that you live there. I would love to think that he found a better life than that of coalmining in Begelly. The wind has dropped, Saundersfoot Bay was calm this morning and the temp. is around 8 deg. Regards Frances Thanks Frances, I will definitely add that book to my "find list", along with "A Pembrokeshire Country Man Looks Back" author Cmdr W.R. Morgan, recommended to me a while back by mjroberts of this list. To my knowledge my parents were the first of the family to come to USA, and they returned to England before their deaths. I do however have a Great-Uncle William Badham (Baddam in 1881 census) born Begelly (Wooden) 1875, of whom we know nothing after 1901, as he "ran away from home". He had been apprenticed as a blacksmith, following in the footsteps of his father, but that was not to his liking anymore than mining, according to my Grandfather, George, who supposed he may have gone to Australia, I am hopeful that one day I can find him, as more information is becoming available daily on this wonderful internet. According to one source, there were over 2400 Badhams in America in the 2000 census, but I don't know any of them. I have found references to a William Badham in Virginia as far back as late 1600s, probably a pirate or convict? He seems to have ended up being a trapper, dealing in furs.. I found no record of descendants. I haven't really done any US research. Thanks again, Rachel Ct, USA

    3. Rose , thank you this is great news. I didnot give the grooms name as I wanted to confirm it without 'guidance' which is exactly what has happened. I was trying to clarify the maiden name of Lewis Morgans wife, Martha as there has been some consideration given to a Martha WILLIAMS also born 1795 and Redberth. So what you have found for me is excellent and I shall now see if I can get an image or copy of their marriage certificate/entry. Also your second mail giving Lewis as MORGANS was additional help as 'S 'has been used and omitted from quite early but my Gt ...grandfather was Lewis Morgans. Again many thanks, Sue in LLantrisant. ***************************************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: Maytree4@aol.com To: pippyx@tiscali.co.uk ; WLS-PEMBROKESHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, January 20, 2005 10:27 PM Subject: Re: [WLS-PEM] Martha WHITTA b1795 Sue, Further to my email. 3. Hi Bettye, I do have the names of Lettice CODD's parents and grandparents. Parents are Tobias CODD and Elizabeth MOORE. Grandparents are William CODD and Eleanor SAISE and Patrick MOORE and Lettice MORGAN. The only information that I have on them is what is on the Mormon site and that is patron submitted. I haven't really done any research myself on them yet. I do know where Tobias and Elizabeth CODD are buried as I have seen the gravestone in Marloes Parish graveyard and copied the information on it. If you have any information on them would love to know what you have. Thanks, Gwen in Bermuda.
