A branch of my family - Griffiths lived in Kilgerran from the 1780's until the 1980's, has anybody done reseach in Kilgerran and would have an idea how I could go back even further or gather more information Regards, Andy Philpin
Dianne, Suggest you also subscribe to the Dyfed mailing list and post your query there, as well, as there are many other subscribers with Pembrokeshire interests and resource material that may be able to help. Well done Gareth for mentioning that and Pembs records, once I have been there, the records I mean,it looked under funded as they all are ,but that one really looked as though it needed all the help it could get, you have got me all fired up ! look out local politicians! cheers mate Tony Rogers
Hello Eirwyn, >From Deborah C. Fisher's "Who's Who in Welsh History"...SHADRACH, Azariah ("the Bunyan of Wales")...1774-1844...Independent minister, founder of a chapel at Aberystwyth and author of devotional works in Welsh and English. Regards, Elaine.
Looking for family of Hannah PARSELL, born about 1835 in Pembrokeshire. Family were members of St. Issel's Parish. Hannah married John POWELL. Thanks for any information, Elida in South Carolina, USA
A useful source of information can be the many books/booklets produced by local councils to celebrate the millenium, some of them are mines of information even locals are finding out things they did not know! so if you want to try a different tack look for the local council address in the area you are searching regards Tony Rogers
adjustment to my previous message. I actually meant, was John THOMAS possibly the Father of Jane JOHN. ? Would it be possible for Thomas THOMAS to be a Brother of Jane. ? Mary
James MOOR of Trevethen, Co. Monmouth; a Gardener, & Jane JOHN marr 22 Sept. 1836, in the Parish of St Mary , Tenby, Co. Pembroke. James signed his name, Jane with a cross. Witnesses, John Thomas, & Thomas Thomas. The 1851 census Parish of Haverfordwest, shows Jane age 40 yrs, a gardeners wife. However, no sign of James. He did not die until 1891, so he must have been head down weeding, when the census man called. I would like to know who were their parents. Given the patrynomic naming, was the John or Thomas THOMAS, the father, of Jane ? The name by 1881, was spelt MOORE. Mary legarthm@levin.pl.net

I have been researching this rather rare surname for some time. One of its sources is the Newport/Nevern area of Pembrokeshire although I know that there was some migration to other parts of the county, to the adjoining Carmarthenshire and possibly the Swansea area. Also, some of the lines ended up in the US and I am in contact with some of the descendants. I would be interested in any information which others have come across. Variations of the surname include : Shaddrach Shadrack Shaddrack Shaderick Shadderick Eirwyn Davies Aberystwyth Wales
Hi List! Just to let this new list know of my research interests! MORRIS - St Issells (Saundersfoot) ROBLIN - Jeffreston In particular I am keen to learn more about my grandfather (Tudor MORRIS) and his father (Thomas) who were both bakers in Saundersfoot in the early 1900s at Jubilee House (now a B&B). Thomas married Jane ROBLIN of Jeffreston and I think that her father also ended up in Saundersfoot. Tudor married Edith THOMAS who's father apparently ran the Hean Castle Hotel. Tudor was involved with the setting up of the British Legion in 1922 at Saundersfoot and apparently was involved with the local football team as well. Are there any records/photos of Saundersfoot teams and if so where could they be viewed? I've read a couple of books by Roscoe Howells and Tom Stickings - both of which shed some light on both Tudor and Thomas. Any information appreciated. Ray
