When Hannah died, in attendance was a John Jones and she died at Penybent. ? a shop. 4. As she gave her birth date as 1813 on one census and 1816 on another, I have been unable to find her certificate and therefore find her mothers surname. 5. David Williams in 1881 could have been at the Red Lion LLandysul, and had a family there, giving his birth as 1824 a birth cert would again prove his parents. ================ Dear Valerie, My comments (below) refer to the above five points extracted from your original message. 1. The 1841 census would only tell you whether or not the individuals were born in Cardiganshire. It would not tell you whether they were born in Llandysul. Perhaps you have obtained this information from elsewhere? 2. The 1851 census should tell you more precisely than 'not in county' where Hannah Williams was born. 3. The place of death is probably Penybont rather than 'Penybent'. There is a Penybont Baptist chapel at grid reference 241522, 240342 near the bridge over the river at Llandysul. You'll find the chapel identified on the Old Maps website at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ On the Old Maps main page, select the "Co-ordinates" option in the search facility (near top left of the page). In the search field enter the co-ordinates 241522,240342 (without any spaces) and click the Search button. Select the Carmarthenshire option rather than the Cardiganshire option. When the small map appears, click on the "Enlarged view" button below the map. A highly detailed large map of the area will open in a new window, centred roughly on Penybont Chapel. It's likely the area at this end of the bridge was (is?) known as Penybont (meaning 'bridge end'). 4. As the birth is before 1837 it will not have been registered so you be unable to obtain a birth certificate. You'll have to rely on church (or chapel) baptism records and parents' marriage records. 5. As just explained, an 1824 birth will not have been registered so you'll have to rely on church (or chapel) baptism records.
