Dear List, I'm looking for a marriage of a David MORRIS (born Pembs.) and Mary MORRIS (born Cardigan c. 1808) circa 1825-1830. It may have taken place in Cards. near the border with Pembrokeshire. Can anyone help? Best wishes James Phillips-Evans
James, I presume you mean that Mary's maiden name was MORRIS, as well. If the presumption is correct on my part, I checked all of the Cardiganshire hundreds in the Dyfed Marriage Index 1813-37 and there is no match of a David MORRIS and a Mary MORRIS in Cardiganshire in those years. The index that I hold does *not* match grooms to brides so if Mary's maiden name is unknown, there's no way of knowing which David MORRIS marriage might be the right one. Hi James, try Carmarthenshirefhs' website at http://www.carmarthenshirefhs.co.uk/ click on Cardiganshire and Pembrokeshire marriages 1813-37. It is a database which says it is open to all and although I belong to Carm fhs I was not asked for any codeword to look at the database. Try advanced find (click find first) when you get to the db to narrow down the no. of records you will be shown. Good Luck .
