    3. Richard, What is your source for the details of Elizabeth JONES? (i.e., birth & marriage certificates, census returns? Parish registers?) If Elizabeth was born (and living in Aberystwyth at the time of the marriage), it was common to marry in the bride's home parish. By 1866, it was also not uncommon for people to marry at the Supt. Registrar's Office, Aberystwyth. Have you obtained this marriage certificate? Have you obtained Margaret's birth certificate? I searched the 1881 Census Index for all Samuel DAVIES who were born in Cardiganshire ca. 1838. This appears to be your Samuel DAVIES in the 1881 Census, even though the farm name differs a bit from the one you stated, "Penlanogle,Aberaeron" (either you've got it wrong or the 1881 transcription here is wrong.). Note that Samuel's birthplace is stated as Henfenyw (actually, it's Henfynyw). All 3 parishes (Llannerch Aeron, Henfynyw and Cilcennin) are all situated quite closely geographically. Also, Anne's birthplace is probably Llanarth, another nearby parish (and probably where he married her). 1881 Dwelling: Penlawer Ogley Moiddyn Census Place: Llanerch Ayron, Cardigan, Wales Source: FHL Film 1342310 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 5443 Folio 19 Page 2 Marr Age Sex Birthplace Samuel DAVIES M 42 M Henfenyw, Cardigan, Wales Rel: Head Occ: Farmer Of 59 Acres Anne DAVIES M 43 F Cenarth, Cardigan, Wales Rel: Wife Occ: Farmer Wife Eliza A. It remains to be seen whether the 2nd wife was still alive in 1871 and these are her children or the children of the 3rd wife. Where your Margaret was in 1881, I don't know. You haven't said when and where she was born. There are a number of Margaret DAVIES who were servants in the area in 1881 and born ca. 1866+/-. If you can give me more information about her, I should be able to find her. Here's one possibility in Glamorganshire, although it would mean the marriage of her parents might've been 1865 or 1866, but she was b. Aberystwyth and living in Ystradyfadog, 2 places in common with your information: 1881 Census Dwelling: Pontrhondda Farm Census Place: Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan, Wales Source: FHL Film 1342277 PRO Ref RG11 Piece 5305 Folio 4 Page 1 Marr Age Sex Birthplace Richard EVANS M 70 M Rhondda Valley Rel: Head Occ: Farmer 79 Acres Gwen L. It makes no sense for Samuel to have left this place and live in the Rhondda in 1891. I suspect that entry you've been told about is incorrect. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you explore the GENUKI pages for Cardiganshire and also check the specific parishes in these pages: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CGN/ This will give you a better idea of what may be available to you. Hope this helps.
