    3. Could someone please tell me the meaning of this place name? Would a Welsh-English dictionary help me in the future? I'm assuming this is a small place in the area of Llangoedmor, although so far I've not found it on the map sites. Appreciate all the help I've had. We've sent for the parish records from LHS, so we'll see what else turns up. Calista

    3. Hi Calista, Beili, often seen alone as a place name, means: yard or enclosure (often formed by a wall or hedge, as in castle). Ffoes or Ffôs means: ditch or trench, usually man made. For obvious reasons the two, very often go together. I hope this helps. And yes, get yourself a copy of 'Y Geiriadur Mawr' Gomer Press. ISBN No. 0-7154-0543-8 Hwyl (you can look that up in your new Geiriadur!) Steve.
