My Gt G.Father was Frederick Vaughan, born 10/1/1839 supposedly at ..TUCLUYDD, Wales, County not Known? His father was Henry Frederick Vaughan 3rd son of John Vaughan of Greengrove (and Jane Evans of Highmead)who took the additional name of Lloyd to inherit the Brynog (more correctly "Breinog" Estate;) in Aeron Valley near Trefilan his mother was Mary Anne(maybe Marianne) Caroline Catherine Griffies-Williams, dau of Sir George Griffies-Williams and & Anne Margaretta Evans (Dau of Herbert Evans of Highmead) so his parents were 1st Cousins(just by the way) I found the Marriage record on the IGI of the LGS Church, I found a baptismal record of his elder brother at the same church a year later ( St Peter & St Paul at Marlborough, Wilts) I found 2 younger brothers on IGI baptised at Wiston, Pembrokeshire in 1840's What I don't know and need help :------ 1. I cant find Tucluydd ??? but if the name was passed down by word of mouth here in Australia would Tyrllwyd in the Llangoedmor Parish sound like Tucluydd if pronounced in a Welsh accent to an ear used to the Australian flat accent?? Because in the list of Sheriffs of Cardiganshire posted by Gareth Hicks on 25/5/2003 shows a John Vaughan Lloyd of Tyllwyd in 1821 Now my John Vaughan Lloyd was married in 1788 but Burkes Landed Gentry does not show him as a Sheriff whereas his grandson Herbert is the Sheriff in 1862 and his father Edward Vaughan as Sheriff in 1775 , as per Gareth's list: Of course if you haven't guessed already this is the family and descendants of Dorothy Vaughan (nee Hill) Viscountess Lisburne in the 1700's STILL I cant find my G.Grandfather's birth place. And although it seems fairly certain this is his family I have no concrete connection , even though Herbert Millingchamp Vaughan (The South Wales Squires etc) visited Aus and my Grandparents in 1912/3 but thats all! SO any of Dorothy's descendants in Wales and I know there are some would love to hear from you. We have quite a large extended family in Aussie as Frederick Vaughan emigrated in about 1861 -2 he was first married in South Australia in 1864. My other interest is Glynne of Glyn Teyweryn, Montgomery so I have yet to post my interest there. Any Takers??? Wales played 2 magnificent games of Rugby against NZ and Eng. and were a trifle unlucky against Eng. Regards Joe Carter Blaxland NSW OZ
