I would have thought that a simple transcription error could easily turn Penbraich into Pentraich. As for Pen Y Braich, Pencaerau in Llyn is variously Pencaerau, Penycaerau, Pen y Caerau and variations on that theme. Maybe the error occured in 1901 by the enumerator who, as TM Hughes says, may not have been Welsh or Welsh-speaking.
