Hi List I'm re-posting a previous interest as I now have updated information. I'm sorry for the repetition. I'm looking for someone who has access to the 1841 or 1851 Census of Wales who can look up the following family for me. David JONES, Eleanor JONES (wife nee ELLIS) and Ellis David JONES (son) c. 1833-1840. Ellis David JONES came to Australia before 1877. Because of the very common name I have been unable to verify exactly when; arrivals in 1854 and 1858 are promising. *On his marriage certificate in 1881 he gave his occupation as slate quarry man, aged about 40 (pity he didn't know how old he was!), birthplace Wales (helpful!). *His grave transcription has him born about 1836/1837 *Another certificate has his birthdate around 1842. *He always stated his birthplace as Wales. *A photograph in my possession is inscribed on the back "Ellis David Jones Penrhyn Caernarvonshire". I guess he was not necessarily born there. I have searched the 1871 census but the family must have disbanded by then as I can only find single Ellis Jones'. If I can find the complete family I'm more likely to find the right one. The Society of Australian Genealogists has microfiche of the 1841 and 1851 census but it is incomplete. I have searched all available fiche for Wales. Am I asking too much? Can anyone advise me where to go next? Thank you Lorna.
