Hi All, This past couple of nights I have been browsing some Welsh records and I came across this criminal register "CARDIGANSHIRE CONSTABULARY REGISTER OF CRIMINALS 1899 - 1933" and noticed that there were lots of strays, http://www.llgc.org.uk/ so I started jotting them down not realising quite how many there were when I started!! But I started so I had to finish.................I have only noted the ones that were born outside Wales, my knowledge of Welsh place names was not great enough to decide if the person was from the county of Cardiganshire or not, but I did recognise the non-Welsh place names, so here you have them..........for quite a few of the years there are "mug shots" and they are VERY interesting photographs too, for some reason a lot of them show the men with their hands crossed over their chest - I have no idea why (any ideas on that one?). In the later years there are no photographs but lots of personal information, such as place of birth, age, scars and tattoos, height, etc and of course the criminal record. These crimes range from such as stealing rabbits, clothes, horsehair (!!), even combination drawers (!!!) to such things as embezzlement. Also I note that the symbol @ seems to mean alias in those far off times, nothing to do with the email addresses we are so familiar with today. I have just noted names and places, no other information, but if you find one of "your" names in this list of strays then it really will be worth trawling through the pages. Unfortunately I didn't find any of mine, but I really wish I had, if only to put some "meat on the bones" of one of my lot.
