    3. Hello Jonathan, Your message didn't make it to the mailing list. The address for sending messages to the list is slightly different to the subscription address: [email protected] Letters sent to the address that includes the word "requests" are answered by a computer and only seen by the list administrator, me in the case of Wls-Caernarfonshire. Here is your family in 1891 in the hamlet of Saron near Llanddeiniolen: Administrative County Caernarvon Civil Parish Llanddeiniolen RG12/4658 Folio 64 Page 8 Schedule 54 Saron. Evan Griffith Head Married 38 Agricultural Labourer born Llanrug Caernarvonshire Welsh. Jane Griffith Wife Married 34 born ANGLESEY Llanfihangel Welsh. Sarah J Griffith Dau 10 Scholar Cae Saron Welsh. Elizabeth Griffith Dau 7 Scholar Cae Llanddeiniolen Welsh. Owen Rowland Griffith Son 6 Scholar Cae Llanddeiniolen Welsh. Griffith J Griffith Son 4 Cae Llanddeiniolen Welsh. Harry Griffith Son 2 Cae Llanddeiniolen Welsh. In 1871 Evan was an unmarried Lodger in the house of Ellis Jones in Llanrug. If Llanfihangel Anglesey is correct, rather than Llanfihangel Merioneth, then this may be Jane in Llanfihangel Ysceifiog in 1871: Parish of Llanfihangel Esq RG10/5762 Folio 87 Page 18 Schedule 85 Tan y Graig Thomas Jones Head Married 53 Farmer of 53 Acres Llanfihangel Esq Angy. Ellen Jones Wife Married 57 Ceirchiog Angy. Griffith Jones son single 20 Working at home Llanfihangel Esq Angy. Mary Jones dau single 20 at home Llanfihangel Esq Angy. John Griffith Son 18 At home Llanfihangel Esq Angy. JANE JONES dau 14 Scholar Llanfihangel Esq Angy. Ann Jones dau 13 Scholar Llanfihangel Esq Angy. Griffith Jones Brother Widow 66 Ag Lab Llanfihangel Esq Angy. I can't see these two as a couple in 1881, but there is a possibility that they were married shortly after the 1881 Census, so they may still be single then - I haven't checked this possibility. Jones) in a pre-1901 census. The details from the 1901 census about him are: Name: Evan Griffith Age in 1901: 48 yrs Place of Birth: Carnarvon Llanrug Profession in 1901: Quarry Labourer Language: Welsh He was married to Jane Griffith (nee Jones) b. 1857 Llanfihengel Penant. But I couldn't find either of these people on the 1881 census on familysearch.org, they went on to have 4 sons (Owen Roland b.1885, Griffith John b.1887, Harry b.1889, and Evan Hugh b.1891), and 2 daughters (Sarah Jane b.1881, and Elizabeth b.1884). 3. Hi Alwyn, Thanks for the info! Jan has been intouch, and we're trying to sort out if we're related or not. I was wondering if you have the household entry for Evan Griffith in 1871 when you say he is lodging with Ellis Jones in Llanrug, if so could you send it to me please? I'm not sure where Jane Jones was born. Has anyone got any opinions on how to understand two census entries of the same family which list the same mother's birth place as two different places: "Caernarvon Llanfihangel Penant" in 1901, or "Anglesey Llanfihangel" in 1891? Once again, thanks for the info!
