I'm Ian and I live near Yr Wyddgrug / Mold in North Wales. I'm researching not one family but all those who have lived on Ynys Enlli / Bardsey Island! Also their families on the mainland as there was a fair 'flow' to & from the island over the years mainly from the Aberdaron area. I have some 460+ people listed mostly in a number of 'trees'. They range from one family still on the island (whose connection with the island I have recently linked back to the early 1800's although it was only rumour in their family!) to individuals that I know little about but I know they lived on the island. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/familyhistory/pages/bardsey.shtml I'm happy to share any information that I have researched - if your ancestors came from the Aberdaron area - I may well have them in my lists. Everything is searchable in my computer together with where the information came from. When I get a bit more time (to many trips to the island at the moment - I look after the telephones there as a volunteer!) I'll post a few queries. I'm particularly interested in what happened to some Bardsey folk who went to the USA such as the following - Ellen Charles to Remsen, New York in 1818 William Richards, wife & six children to New York in 1818 John P Jones, wife & five children to Oneida, New York in 1819 Robert Pritchard to Oneida, New York in 1826 David Richard to USA in 1831 I have no other details of the above as yet. In a list census ALL members of the list send a message to the list telling us: 1) Who you are and where you live (in general terms – Tony in London, England; rather than Mr A. W. Blair, 10 Downing Street, London SW1 1OA – for safety sake!) 2) What you already know about your Gwynedd family in as much detail as possible – if you have many family branches in the area please feel free to send more than one reply to this request. Put some “meat” on your details. “I’m looking for Jones in Caernarfon” won’t help other list members connect with your family but full details of which John Jones, born where, when, appeared in the census in which family etc – may help make a brake-through. 3) What you would most like to find out next about this family / these families. 4)1 Please send to the list address [email protected] and not me personally! 4. Adapt the subject line a from "List census" to, say "William Jones of Ty Mawr Llanbethma" Looking forward to a FULL, 196 member, response, Regards Alwyn List Administrator --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
