Hi All My name is Maureen Miles and I live in a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. I am researching the Hughes family from Pwllheli, mainly Guy Hughes, a photographer. He took many photographs during 1909 and onward and, I believe, covered events of local interest, such as May Queen Festivals, weddings, quarry openings etc, as well as doing personal portraits. When he died in 1972 all the negatives of his work were put in the Caernarvon County Archives. At the same time, three work books with names and account details were also deposited. The work books have been catalogued, but the negatives have not. The Chief Librarian at the time of the deposit was, apparently, very interested and indicated that they would eventually be digitised and reprinted. Unfortunately, that has not happened and my father, Nevil Hughes in London, is very anxious that they do not go to waste as he feels that they may be of great interest to many people who are researching their family history. I have copies of a couple of pages from the work books and they include such information as: June 13 1909 Mr Young, Lufton, Pwllheli 1. Gp of Golf Committee 2. " " skating carnival June 16 1909 Dr Shelton Jones, Lleyn St 2 carnival gps Feb 11 1909 Mr Galloway, 33 Major St, Manchester 1 1/1 pl of Mr Lloyd George at Links Nov 1922 Mrs Hughes, 5 Tal-y-bont, Chwilag Framed enlgmt of Hugh Hughes 3 8 1932 Superintendant Owen, Police Station 21 1/1 group of police I would be interested to hear from anybody who may have an interest in the subjects. I shall be visting the UK during September and hope to be able to get access to the negatives to assess what condition the are in and to investigate the possibility of getting at least some of them digitised and made available to list members. Regards Maureen Miles
