Hi Martin, The information you have been given by others is correct as you have now gathered, but.you will no doubt be wondering how the crossing became to be so named. When the railway line was extended from Bangor to Caernarfon (Caernarfon Station opened in 1852), the company had to purchase land from a man called Griffiths and he sold it to the company on condition that when he used the railway that there would be a Halt where the crossing used to be, and this for his personal use.
