    3. Dear Maggie and Martin, Thank you very much for your help. We will check the references - all we have is an elderly relative stating that a key family marriage took place at Rowen. http://www.davidchapmansculpture.co.uk/studiopage.htm We found this a deconsecrated church given as Rowen but now it's an artist's studio; he also does reconstruction archaeology. We did not know if this was the church or where its records might be - according to this site it closed in the 1980s. We thought that this might be the only church at Rowen and according to the map on the page it is at what we thought was the right Rowen. "Llangelynnin New Church, Rowen - Llangelynnin New Church was built at the beginning of the Nineteenth Century to replace the old early medieval parish church which had become isolated from the main settlements 'its solitude is only relieved by the neighbourhood of a single house'.The New Church was situated in one of the most picturesque locations in North Wales. Both churches were dedicated to St Celynin who lived during the 6th Century, but whereas the Old Church is a typical low, simple Welsh medieval church, the New Church was designed by Thomas Jones of Chester in a powerful, lofty Late Georgian style. The most unusual feature of the building is the tower with its square lower storey surmounted by an octagonal embattled upper stage." Thank you from us all, Peter family -----Original Message----- From: Martin Briscoe [mailto:mbriscoe@zetnet.co.uk] Sent: 26 April 2006 20:31 To: WLS-CAERNARFONSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [CAE] Marriage records for Rowen, Caernarvonshire Is the one at SH 75830 72050 classed at Rowen?
