    3. Hi, I am afraid that I cannot answer your query re Band Train, unless of course, it was the name of the Captain's ship. However, you are mistaken about TREFDRAETH being in Caernarfonshire, North Wales. Were you to put the name into a search engine, (GOOGLE) you would find that it is in North Pembrokeshire, South Wales, and the English name for the place is NEWPORT. Now North Pembroke is next to Carmarthenshire and there could be a clue here. Maybe a County Boundary change has occurred at some time. Not unheard of in Wales. 3. ( for some mysterious reason my first posting of this went direct to Mr Hughes only) Hello Tracey Whilst I do not dispute Mr Hughes' assertion that there is a Trefdraeth in Pembs etc I must point out that there is a parish of that name on Anglesey and the name Trefeilir appears there or thereabouts if you google Trefdraeth +Trefeilir or just Trefdraeth +Anglesey.Note the name Llangwyvan in the Genuki desc of the parish ( this name was bandied about at the begining of the thread I think) Insofar as Train Band is concerned I believe it to be an old military term ( militia etc) and a Google of "train band"+captain bears this out- some results that may be worthy of looking up to find out what it means etc. Hywyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Meirion Hughes" <twmei@cofis.f9.co.uk> To: <WLS-CAERNARFONSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 13, 2006 10:12 AM Subject: Re: [CAE] Captain of Train Band > Hi, > > I am afraid that I cannot answer your query re Band Train, unless of > course, it was the name of the Captain's ship. 3. I think my good friend T. Meirion Hughes is forgetting the parish of Trefdraeth in Anglesey! The parish borders on Llangwyfan parish on the coast, as was mentioned in an earlier query. Incidentally, my great-aunt was a housemaid at Trefeilir, Trefdraeth. Regards, David Price, Bangor.
