Dear Maggie and Martin, Thank you very much for your help. We will check the references - all we have is an elderly relative stating that a key family marriage took place at Rowen. http://www.davidchapmansculpture.co.uk/studiopage.htm We found this a deconsecrated church given as Rowen but now it's an artist's studio; he also does reconstruction archaeology. We did not know if this was the church or where its records might be - according to this site it closed in the 1980s. We thought that this might be the only church at Rowen and according to the map on the page it is at what we thought was the right Rowen. "Llangelynnin New Church, Rowen - Llangelynnin New Church was built at the beginning of the Nineteenth Century to replace the old early medieval parish church which had become isolated from the main settlements 'its solitude is only relieved by the neighbourhood of a single house'.The New Church was situated in one of the most picturesque locations in North Wales. Both churches were dedicated to St Celynin who lived during the 6th Century, but whereas the Old Church is a typical low, simple Welsh medieval church, the New Church was designed by Thomas Jones of Chester in a powerful, lofty Late Georgian style. The most unusual feature of the building is the tower with its square lower storey surmounted by an octagonal embattled upper stage." Thank you from us all, Peter family -----Original Message----- From: Martin Briscoe [mailto:mbriscoe@zetnet.co.uk] Sent: 26 April 2006 20:31 To: WLS-CAERNARFONSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [CAE] Marriage records for Rowen, Caernarvonshire Is the one at SH 75830 72050 classed at Rowen? Only Ellis Williams at Llanddeiniolen, aged 9, was living with his mother Jane, aged 41 at Pen y Cefn. No mention of the father, although Jane says that she is married. There was also daughter also named Jane (aged 19), sons Ffoulke (17), William (14), and John (01), and daughters Dorothy (6) and Margaret (4). Hope this helps, Ieuan.
I think they might be in Llandudno. I have been through some of the registers for the area around Caerhun in the Conwy Archives but can't be sure that they included Rowen. (Looking for William PARRY father of Thomas PARRU born Caerhun 1816, he was a wood turner.) I don't think they have their catalogue online www.conwy.gov.uk/archives Martin Briscoe Fort William M&LFHS | Gwynedd FHS > -----Original Message----- > From: peter lister [mailto:peter@lister.plus.com] > Sent: 26 April 2006 17:53 > To: WLS-CAERNARFONSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [CAE] Marriage records for Rowen, Caernarvonshire > > > Hello, > > Does anyone know if the marriage records for Rowen are > available anywhere?
Hello, Does anyone know if the marriage records for Rowen are available anywhere? If by any chance anyone on the list has the records we are looking for a ROWLANDS marriage - Richard ROWLANDS to a Jane. Or possibly William ROWLANDS to a Jane or a Margaret. We know that one ROWLANDS marriage took place there but have been unable to track it (or which one) so any help most gratefully received! Thank you and in anticipation - Peter's family

As a general rule Rootsweb Mailing Lists do not help people looking for other living people or for people who do not appear in your own family tree. Have you tried: http://www.forcesreunited.org.uk/ You have to pay a fiver to join, but I am told that many of those who have done so have found many an old buddy.
