    3. Llanllyfni is the parish and as such covers lots of villages, so you will often find on documents peoples place of residence as Llanllyfni even when they live in a different village such as Penygroes. 3. Megan, Yes, it quite confusing at times. My grandparents were listed as Bangor, as that is where they have to register. My family actually is from Bethesda, the parish of Llandegai and Llanllechid. Same goes for those born on Anglesey. Same goes if you have a copy of a passport for an ancestor. My grandmothers says Carnarvonshire. My grandfather came to the US a year earlier, his passport says Bangor, not even Carnarvonshire. Crazy, but it is part of the learning curve. 3. Hi List I have obtained a birth certificate for one of my Great Aunts which shows that she was born at Ochoryfoel Llanllyfin. Searches on Google do not show this address. My question is: Llanllyfin and Llanllyfni are they one and the same or are they adjoining villages or not related at all? Thankyou John Mandurah Western Australia THOMAS & BISHOP Family Web Site http://members.westnet.com.au/johnnjudy/

    3. Hi John, Maggie is quite right in that Ochoryfoel is in Nebo which is a tiny hamlet South of Llanllyfni, again South of Penygroes in the old county of Caernarvonshire. It looks like a transcription error as there is also a Llanfyllin but this is near Oswestry on the Welsh borders. As far as I am aware there is no Llanllyfin. Ochoryfoel means roughly 'side of the hill'. Arfor (Criccieth, North Wales)

    2. Meirion Hughes
    3. Hi Pat, If the same applies to all municipal cemeteries as does the Llanbeblig Council owned one, the records are kept at the Crematorium at Bangor and if you were to give them a name they can give you a plot number. A friend of mine, now deceased ,wished to find where the bodies of 3 murderers hanged at Caernarfon Jail and unearthed during renovations to the building in 1932 were reburied. He was told to phone the Crematorium and was given the plot numbers. However, as in the case of all persons convicted of murder, no gravestone could be erected to mark the spot. Hope this answers your question. Regards, T Meirion Hughes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Hughes" <pat.hughes44@btinternet.com> To: <WLS-CAERNARFONSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 22, 2006 3:38 PM Subject: [CAE] Cemetery records > Can anyone tell me where to get hold of the cemetery records for Cefn Faes > cemetery Rhos Isaf near Caernarfon please. 3. Dear list, I wonder if anyone with access to Ancestry.com could let me know who was at Ysgubor Bach, Aberdaron, and Llawr Dre(f), Llangian, in 1841 and '51? I have the occupants from 1861 onwards and hope someone could help. 2. I Thompson
    3. Dear list, Does anyone connect to the families of Llawr Y Dref, Llangian or Ysgubor Bach, Aberdaron at the turn of the 1800s? My family of Griffiths had connections there both called Jones ca. 1800. Also Price in Ty Cerrig, Nefyn, circa 1820? Hope someone might be interested in the same? Unfortunately, the families predate the census, altho later people may appear in 1841/51 &c.
