    2. James Price
    3. Thanks to everyone for the info on cemeteries in Dolwyddelan. I failed to mention the family that I am looking for because I posted a few messages about them some months ago. It is a family that lived at Coetmor for several generations. Their surname changed often, with the basic ancestry of the family going back in time as follows: David Owen was born at Coetmor and christened 16 July 1797. He married Jane Roberts 21 April 1823. They left Wales in 1848 and settled in Cambria, Wisconsin, USA. David Owen's parents were Owen Maurice (buried 10 Nov 1809) and Margaret Jones (buried 11 May 1827). Owen Maurice was born at Coetmor. Owen Maurice's parents were Maurice ap Robert (buried 24 Nov 1787) and Jane (buried 29 June 1787). Maurice ap Robert's parents were Robert Cadwalader (buried 9 Jan 1739) and Margery (buried 14 Dec 1747). Robert Cadwalader was also, I believe, born at Coetmor. One of Robert Cadwalader's other sons, Cadwalader Roberts, married Ann Griffith, and they have a descendency that is well covered on the LDS church website and various other places online. My goal is to find as many of these gravestones as possible to check for additional genealogical information as well as to take photos for personal and family interest. I would be most interested to find someone whose lines link into this family or home to share information. Thanks for the continued help, Michelle Missouri, USA > > ______________________________> Date: Wed, 23 Aug 2006 18:57:28 EDT > From: WTJ831509@aol.com > To: WLS-CAERNARFONSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [CAE] Dolwyddelan cemeteries > > Hello Michelle > There are two cemeteries in Dolwyddelan. > Gennasaret Chapel is still > standing but has no cemetery attached to it. > Gennasaret opened about 1824 but > was replaced after about 80 years by Bethel chapel. > Many of the gravestones in > the old church have come from local slate quarries, > and being that the slate > was not very good they have deteriorated in the > last few years, but they > have all been recorded. 1. Re: [CAE] Dolwyddelan cemeteries
    2. Hello Michelle There are two cemeteries in Dolwyddelan. Gennasaret Chapel is still standing but has no cemetery attached to it. Gennasaret opened about 1824 but was replaced after about 80 years by Bethel chapel. Many of the gravestones in the old church have come from local slate quarries, and being that the slate was not very good they have deteriorated in the last few years, but they have all been recorded. Who are the people you are trying to find? If you let me know i may be able to help. Bill Jones.

    3. Could anyone tell me how many cemeteries there are in Dolwyddelan? I will be on vacation there next month and would like to do some searching for gravestones. I have family members' burial records from the Dolwyddelan parish church from about 1720-1820, so would assume that they were buried at the parish church (I can only hope that the stones from that time period are still there and readable!). After 1820, some of the family became Independents and attended Gennasaret Chapel. Does that chapel still exist and have a cemetery? 2. David Price
    3. David White managed Bangor's gas works 1878 to 1883. His son, Price Foulkes White (1874-1952) installed Bangor's electricity generating plant in 1900 which he managed until his retirement in 1940. He was also in charge of the gas works from 1906. He was a keen sportsman and played soccer for Tottenham Hotspur, Sheffield United and Leicester City and was selected to play for Wales. His son, [David?] Price White was a Bangor solicitor and for a brief period was an MP, but I think he left Parliament under a bit of a cloud. 1. List Changes
    2. D Alwyn ap Huw Humphreys
    3. You will probably have received a message from Rootsweb informing list members that Rootsweb is going to change the way that it sends out list messages over the coming week. The Clwyd list is schedule to be changed Tomorrow (Tuesday) all the other north Wales lists (beginning with WLS-) are schedule to be changed on Friday. Apart from the possibility of a little bit of down time whilst the computers in America are being updated most list members won't notice much difference. However if you use "address filters" to sort mail from different recipients into separate folders you will need to change their filter rules. Listers who are using rules/filters for an address of CLWYD-L@rootsweb.com will need to change to CLWYD@rootsweb.com etc. (The -L is being dropped from the address). Some members may also need to "whitelist" the new addresses so that messages aren't sent to the Junk folder. Apart from that the transition should be painless, but if anybody has any problems please let me know. All the best Alwyn List Admin
