William was born October 10, 1923 in the Jefferson County township of Hebron to William F. Sr. and Nellie (CHING) STANTON. He married Camilla FINUP Nov. 29, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran church, Vesper. Survivors include his wife, Camilla; two daughters, Doris J. (David) PAITEL and Donna R. (Mark) FEIRER; five grandchildren, Dawn WUNDROW, Darnelle PAITEL, Brenda SWAN, Jacqueline WEIDNER and Adrienne FEIRER; three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Hugh R. (Ardes) STANTON and Edwin H. (Lorraine) STANTON; and one sister, Freda N. (James) NELSON. He was predeceased by one sister, Edith SCHWARZE in 1996. Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Presbyterian church, Arpin. His grand-daughters and their spouses served as pallbearers, and Rev. Janet Wolfe officiated. Burial was in Arpin cemetery. Buchanan Funeral Home, Pittsville, assisted the family.
