HILES, 87, formerly of Dexterville, died January 9, 2002 at Arpin. Dexter HILES was born April 23, 1914 in the Wood County Town of Wood to William and Hattie (BRAUN) HILES. He was married to Marian C. HOWARD on July 11, 1933 in Auburndale. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth (John) KANE, one son, William (Lou Ann) HILES, one daughter-in-law, Alice (Harold) GAIER, one brother, Paul HILES, all of Wisconsin, and many grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, in 1999; one son, Robert; and one grandson. Funeral services were January 12, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville, with Rev. Tom Hahn officiating. Burial was in the Dexterville cemetery. His grandchildren served as pallbearers and Buchanan Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. The family requests memorials to the Pittsville Historical Society or the Babcock Ball Diamond Fund.
