Wi Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/WoodObits/347 Surname: SCHLEGEL ------------------------- George SCHLEGEL Obit taken from the Pittsville Record, Volume 1, Number 6, September 23, 1909, Page 5 Columns 2 and 3 George SCHLEGEL, d. 1909 George SCHLEGEL met a violent and most shocking death in his father's grist mill in this city Saturday last. He had been caught in the shafting of the machinery in the basement of the mill, and mangled beyond recognition. There is comfort in the fact that death must ahve been nearly instantaneous. The body was taken charge of by Undertaker Werner and was kept at the undertaking rooms until the time of the funeral. The funeral was at the Lutheran church of this city Monday of this week, Rev GRUBER delivering a touchingly appropriate sermon followed by a short sermon in English. The remains were followed to the cemetery east of town by one of the largest processions ever seen in this city, some fifty carriages being in line. George SCHLEGEL was a few months under seventeen years of age, born at Fort Scott KS, and has lived in Pittsville, with his family for the past eight years.
