    3. Greetings from Seattle. 1st post to this list. Someone said there are a lot of GARDNER and MANNING families in Wood County, WI. The cities we have in our histories include Algoma, Mosinee, Oshkosh and Wassau. 1) Charles A. GARDNER died abt 1900 in a logging accident. His widow, Effie Pauline (LOCKE) GARDNER removed to Spokane, WA with her young son to live with relatives. We've lost track of all relations in Wisconsin and could use any advice in connecting with them. The MANNING family was in WI by 1847. Someone wrote about a "Freeland GARDNER" who was in WI in the 1850s and I believe we have his name mentioned in some letters. My bet is that the GARDNER family of WI is well documented but I need help figuring out where to search. 2) Oliver Everett MANNING (1788-1879) "...and in 1847 removed to Wisconsin, settling first at Oak Center, where he remained two years, and then went to Algoma, where he entered a quarter section of land and afterwards resided. He m. in 1809, at Woodstock, Ct., Marcia, dau. of John and Percia (Herod) BLANCHARD, b. 1789, Dec. 27, at Woodstock. She d. 1875, Dec. 14; Mr. Manning d. 1879, May 9, both at Algoma....." 3) Alfred Jay LOCKE b. 23 Dec 1834 at Hancock, MA married Pauline MANNING - Manning Book Page 212 1771.
