Services were held at Peterson Funeral Home, Postewait Village Chapel in Chicago on Sep 24. Bart, as his friends called him, was born in Park Falls, MN on April 2, 1913 to Elsie BAINE and Melborn BARTLETT. Bart travelled between WI and IL for a number of years. His occupations varied from farming in the Town of Hiles, Wood County to working on electrical jobs and furnaces in IL. Bart's best friend in the whole world was Helene Jay McMURTRY who passed away Jul 10, 1996. Together they had a summer home in Pittsville where they spent many enjoyable days in the great outdoors. Bart and Jay enjoyed the wildlife and wanted to have a refuge for geese and deer to come and feed without fear. The seasonal highlight was for the fine feathered friends to come and land on the pond, then swim to shore, and eat the clover and tasty morsels that had been planted there. For the past few years, Bart was blessed with two lovely caretakers in IL. Rachael and Laura provided Bart with 24 hour care in an apartment building in Downer's Grove. Bart had suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed in 1998, thus needed special care yet wished to remain in private care versus a nursing home. His wishes were granted. On Sep 24, 2000, Bart was laid to rest in the Oakridge Mausoleum.
