"Willie" MORAN, 1926-2000 Willard G. "Willie" MORAN, 74, of Arpin, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at his home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Arpin with Rev Janet WOLFE and Rev Chester OSOWSKI officiating. Military rites were conducted by Ebert-Wunrow Post 475 American Legion of Arpin. Funeral services were also held on Wednesday at Homestead United Methodist Church in Rochester, MN. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester. Willie was born May 7, 1926 in Rochester to Thomas and Olive (COLTON) MORAN. He was educated in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School, Class of 1944. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1944-46 as a radio operator for the occupational troops in Germany. He married Lucille PLEMLING May 26, 1948 at St. Francis Catholic Rectory in Rochester. He was then employed as Agent-Telegrapher for Chicago North Western Railroad for eight years. The MORAN's moved to Arpin in 1950 and he worked for 10 years for Preway in Wisconsin Rapids, was then a construction electrician for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, retiring in 1988. He also repaired radios and televisions at his shop in Arpin for many years. Willie was past commander of Post 457 American Legion, Arpin, 40 et 8 Wood County Vioture 1139, former member of Arpin Volunteer Fire Department, and was presently serving as President of the Village of Arpin. He enjoyed woodcarving as a hobby. Willard is survived by his wife, Lucille of Arpin; one son, Steven (Kelly) MORAN of Milladore; two daughters, Sharon (Rollin) DUPEE of Arpin and Susan PETIT of Eyota, MN; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ervin (Veronica) MORAN of Rochester and Luverne (Josephine) MORAN of Rochester.
