Wi Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/WoodObits/276 Surname: CULVER, HARRISON, JONES, MUIR, TELFER ------------------------- John JONES Obit taken from the Wood County Reporter, Friday, August 25, 1905, Page 1 John JONES, 1820-1905 John JONES died Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs Dr TELFER, on Oak Street. He had passed the three score and ten mark by fifteen years, and the cause of his death was the general wearing away of old age. He had been in feeble health for some time past and the end came on Wednesday morning. John JONES was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1820. His parents moved to this country when he was but five years old. They settled first in Rome, NY, and it was there he first attended school and most of his early education was secured. In 1849 the family moved to Geneva, Wisconsin and it was here he met Miss Mary HARRISON, who became Mrs. JONES the following year. From this union there have been nine children born, of which there are six now living. They are scattered over the middle west, and it is hardly probable that they will all be able to attend the funeral of their father. The children that survive Mr JONES are: Mrs. Delancey CULVER, Albien, Nebraska Territory; Edward JONES, Michigan, ND; William T JONES, Charles JONES, Mrs Dr TELFER, and Mrs A M MUIR, of Grand Rapids, WI. There is one sister of his and two brothers who will also mourn his death; they are living in NY, IA and in Tomah, this state. The brothers are Robert and David JONES, the latter from Tomah. Mrs John JONES preceded him in death some years ago, and there are left but these, with his grandchildren and a large circle of friends both in this city and in the other places where he has made his home, who will live to mourn deeply the taking away of a good brother, loving parent and a first class friend. The remains will be taken to Mazomanie for burial. This was his home years ago, and there interment will be held. Services will be held at that place in the Congregational church there. Mr JONES had lived in Grand Rapids for the past five years with his daughter, Mrs Dr TELFER, and during that time, though an old man, had made a host of friends among the younger businessmen as well as the older ones, who will regret deeply losing an old and honored friend.
