BEAN FUNERAL RITES TODAY Funeral services for William H BEAN, 74, of Vesper, who died at the Marshfield hospital at 6:30am Tuesday of injuries suffered when he jumped from a wagon drawn by a runaway horse team Monday, will be held from the Baker funeral chapel Thursday, April 17, 1941 at 2pm. BURIAL IN FOREST HILL The Rev E A FINN will officiate and burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the mortuary until time of services. A resident of the Vesper vicinity since early childhood. Mr. BEAN was born in Waukesha county on March 18, 1867, son of Mr and Mrs Phillip F BEAN/ . He attended district school in the town of Hansen and worked in the lumber industry of the region for many years. In addition to several business enterprises in Vesper which he operated at various times, Mr. BEAN took a prominent part in town and county politics. He served as town chairman and town treasurer, and was for many years a trustee of Wood county asylum. He served eight years as postmaster at Vesper. FILLING STATION OWNER In 1907, Mr BEAN went to Ashland where he spent three years in the logging industry. He returned to Vesper to engage in the livery business for a time before establishing the general merchandise store which he operated until recent years. He was the proprietor of a filling station at Vesper at the time of he death. Mr BEAN was married to Minnie DRESSEN on July 31, 1890. She survives with two of their five children. Ray H BEAN at Vesper and Royal H BEAN of Wisconsin Rapids. Three grandchildren and four brothers, Arthur P., Orson, Ed and Ernest, all of Vesper, also survive. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
