Funeral services were at St James Catholic Church in Vesper, Friday August 11. Rev. James Benzmiller and Rev Chester OSOWSKI officiated. Gary was born October 27, 1948 in the Milladore area, to Philip and Emma (ZVOLENA) HAASL. He married Kathleen LUBECK on July 31, 1971, and they remained married for 23 years. He was employed by Vulcan Chemicals of Port Edwards for nearly 30 years. He formerly served in the US Army Reserves, and was an usher at St James Catholic Church. Gary had a passion for the outdoors, and he and Kathy created and developed their 30 acre homestead on the Hemlock Creek near Vesper. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed small game hunting, deer hunting and trapping. He attended many state trapping conventions and also enjoyed collecting automobiles, especially GTO's and Cutlasses. He was in the process of restoring a 1969 Cutlass at the time of his death, which he hoped to pass on to his future grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Sara (Craig) SMITS of Rudolph, Molly HAASL of Wisconsin Rapids, and Billie HAASL of Wisconsin Rapids; his parents, Philip and Emma HAASL of Wisconsin Rapids; two brothers, Donald (Jan) HAASL of Cross Plains and Gregory (Mary) HAASL of Appleton; one sister, Gail (Carl) MEINHARDT of Yakima, WA.
