I am not related to nor have any additional information on these surnames. R/S MAK http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/ +++++++++++++++ My grandparents were Herman and Minnie Langer. They lived in Stratford in Marathon County from the early 1900's until their deaths in 1945 and 1950 respectively. Minnie was the daughter of William and Margaret (Hanan) Lawrie of Auburndale. William was in the lumber business and later a dairy farmer in Auburndale - William and Margaret are buried in the cemetery there. Herman and Minnie are buried in the cemetery in Marshfield - I don't know the name but it is on the hill above the Marshfield Clinic and St. Joseph's Hospital. My grandfather, Herman, was also in the lumber business most of his adult life. He probably worked for William Lawrie in Auburndale and later worked for many years for the Connor Lumber Company. I have geneological information on my grandmother's (Minnie Lawrie Langer) family but am trying to find out anything I can regarding Herman's origins. He supposedly was born in Germany in 1864 and emigrated to either Canada or the US around 1880 or later. He and Minnie would have been married around 1899 or 1900 - I am guessing somewhere close to Auburndale. Herman had a sister (don't know her first name) who married a Kohl - they had a son named Joseph Kohl - again, possibly living in or near Auburndale. She may be buried in a cemetery in Auburndale, possibly Catholic. My grandfather left the church at a young age, but his sister may have remained Catholic. I was in Auburndale a few months ago and found the Lawrie family plot in a small protestant cemetery across the railroad tracks from the main highway. I was also in the Catholic cemeteries there but did not know about the Kohl name at the time. I would very much appreciate any help you might be able to give me. I am hoping there is a marriage record for my grandparents that would show Herman's birthplace and parent's names or possibly a marriage record for his sister and Mr. Kohl that would give her birthplace and parents' names.
