    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: LINDSAY, TOMKINS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DGC.2ACI/1561 Message Board Post: Reply to David Law <geneobuff@triad.rr.com> As you might already be aware of, Neilsville (formerly was O'Neill's Miills) is in Clark County, WI, which is to the northwest of WoodCoWI. Lindsey (formerly was Hogan) is in Rock Township, Wood County WI, which is southest of Neilsville. You will find a good deal of historical information on the ClarkCoWI site, at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiclark/ It includes the following links: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiclark/CChistory2.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiclark/CChistory.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiclark/communities.html (great map and links to photos) http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiclark/communities/pine_valley/neilsville/history.html Also, free lookups at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiclark/PersResearch.htm Unfortunately, not much interest to date in the history pages for Rock Township, WoodCoWI, as you can see by the barren entry at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/history/Towns/Rock.html If you have the sources for your information, I will be happy to include it here... Since this will be posted to the WoodCoWI Message Boards, it will also go to the Mailing List. Perhaps there is a local historican out there that will be able to assist you further. R/S MAK http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood ++++++++++++++++ I do not know how to go about this or if there is any interest. I am a pretty good geneologist and I am having difficulty getting information on two Cities/Towns. They are Neillsville and a nearby town of Lindsey.Lindsey was named for a F.D. Lindsay, I am told by a lady from Rock. In doing my family geneology of my LINDSAY line I find that my Freeman Dewitt Lindsay was a sheriff, mayor and served in the legislature for the town of Neillsville about 1870s. He was a lumberman, was a Major in the Civil War (some interesting info here} and was in business with Tomkins family at/near Neillsville They named a nearby town of LINDSEY after him. I have the history of his ancestors back into Scotland if any one is interested. I was hoping to reach a Town Historian that may have an interest in one of the early settlers. Can you please direct me to any one interested? Thank You David Law <geneobuff@triad.rr.com> 626 Riverbend Drive Bermuda Run (was Advance) 27006 Phone 1-336=940-2151 Fax 1-335-740-5867
