Campbell, Acres:80; Price per acre: $1.25; Section: E 1/2 SW 1/4 Sec 4. Page 13. "The earliest settlement in the town of Day was Campbelltown. There were ony a few families; the Sam Campbell family, and his brother Henry and their family, Michael Rozell, his wife, and their nine sons and daughters, and the George Beach family. The settled in an area about a mile north, and amile west of the present site of Rozellville. By this time the Homestead Act had been passed in 1862. This provided land for settlers at prices ranging from $1.00 to $1.25 per acre..." Page 46. In the year 1891 Samuel Campbell was a Constable in the Town of Day. Hope this information helps. By coincidence I have some information on Samuel T. Campbell and Michael Rozell because some of them and their families ended up in Waushara Co intermingling with my relatives.
