Jean, Good question. Yes Portage County WI borders changed several times. In 1818, WI was still the MI Territory, there were originally only two counties - Brown and Crawford. In 1929, the area was split and Iowa county was formed in the southern section of what is now WI, and in 1834 followed Milwaukee Co. Of them was PortageCoWI, made from parts of Brown and Crawford Counties...
