(PFUNDHELLER) EWER, 71, of Milwaukee, died Thursday October 4, 2001. A photo accompanied this obituary. She was born December 10, 1929 in Rhinelander, to Fred and Ona (DAWES) PFUNDHELLER. Eleanor graduated from the Pittsville High School in 1947 and then attended Wood County Normal School (teacher training college) in Wisconsin Rapids. She taught first and second grades at Pittsville Grade School until moving to Menomonee Falls. Eleanor was married to Harold EWER in Pittsville on March 24, 1950, and they moved to Menomonee Falls in 1960. Eleanor graduated from Stevens Point State College in 1962, and taught first grade for over twenty years at Shady Lane and Hiawatha schools. She retired in 1978 from the Menomonee Falls School System. Survivors include one son, Glen (Linda); one daughter, Mary TURKAL; four grandchildren; one sister, Janis (Melvin) GRIMM; one sister-in-law, Lois POTTS; Virgil POTTS; Roy EWER and Charlie EWER. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Harold EWER in 1986, her parents, and one brother-in-law, Arlan EWER. The funeral was held at the United Church of Christ in Pittsville, with Rev. Nancy Carr officiating. Burial was in Mound Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Melvin, Garry and Troy GRIMM, Glen EWER, Eric IWANSKI and Danny TURKAL. Buchanan Funeral Home handled the arrangements for the family. The family requests that in remembrance of Eleanor, you visit someone at a nursing home or volunteer at one.
