BARRETT, 1926 - 2001 Paul D BARRETT, 75, of Beloit, died Sunday March 4, 2001 at the VA Hospital in Madison. Funeral services were Wednesday March 7 at St. James Catholic church, Vesper, with Rev James BENZMILLER officiating. Deb DEDERICH served as organist and grand-daughter Daphne was soloist. Vesper American Legion Post 520 held military graveside rites, and burial was in St. James Cemetery, Vesper. Paul was born January 24, 1926 in Marshfield to James and Frances (STAUBER) BARRETT. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High School and at age 17 entered the U. S. Marine Corps serving in CA, Japan and HI, attaining the rank of Corporal. He attended UW-Stevens Point for two years majoring in engineering. He married Leatryce SHORTELL February 19, 1949 at St James Catholic Church, Vesper. Paul worked at Armour Cheese in Arpin and later transferred to Wisconsin Power & Light in Beloit, retiring after 35 years. He was a member of St Thomas Catholic Church, Beloit. Paul is survived by his wife Leatryce BARRETT of Beloit; three daughters, Paula (Dale) KINDSCHI of Beloit, Kathryn (Terry) PEACH of Caledonia, MN and Laura (Ronald) KRONING of Beloit; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Lynette BARRETT of Marshfield. Buchanan Funeral Home, Pittsville, handled arrangements. Joan M.
