EVANS, 1935 - 2001 Valdon V EVANS, 65, Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday February 26, 2001 in the emergency room at St Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held Thursday March 1, 2001 at the United Church of Christ in Pittsville with Rev Nancy CARR officiating. Val was born Nov 18, 1935, in Camp Douglas to Van and Vila (HESER) EVANS. He was educated in Tomah and graduated from Tomah High School in 1953. Val married Beverly BUNDE in December 1955 in Decorah, Iowa. After marriage they lived in Milwaukee, Warrens and Lancaster; where he worked for Wisconsin Gas Company for 12 years. In 1975 he established Evans Cranberry Company LLC of City Point. He was a producer for Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. Val married Dorene ZIMMERMAN RUSSELL on September 13, 1977 at the United Church of Christ in Pittsville and they continued to operate the marsh until the present time. Val was an active member of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, presently serving on their board of directors, also served as past county president and recently resigned as chairman of membership. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Cranberry Growers Association, the Heart of Wisconsin Sportsmans Club, Wisconsin Rapids and a member of Christ Lutheran church, Marshfield. Val is survived by his wife, Dorene EVANS of Wisconsin Rapids; one son Tony EVANS of Milwaukee; one daughter, Brenda (Rodney) HALE of Wisconsin Rapids; three stepdaughters, Cathy (David) BOSSELAIT of Stevens Point, Martene (Dan) KWIATKOWSKI of Stevens Point and Janet (Peter) MORAN of Madison; his mother, Vila EVANS of Tomah; ten grandchildren; four brothers, Verland (Pauline) EVANS of Viroqua, Vernon "Whitie" (Linda) EVANS of Tomah, Victor (Marlea) EVANS of Camp Douglas, and Vance EVANS of Poplar Grove, IL; and one sister, Vergene JORDAN of McAllister, Oklahoma. Val was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly, on on December 17, 1986; his father; and one son, Michael in 1978. Memorials have been designated to the Lawton Center in Marshfield for cancer research. Buchanan Funeral Home, Pittsville, handled arrangements. Joan M.
