Services were Wednesday at St James Catholic church in Vesper, the Revs. James BENZMILLER and Chester OSOWSKI officiated. Burial was in St James Catholic cemetery with military rites provided by Auburndale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10162. Mr HELLER was born June 16, 1912, in Pittsville, to John and Mary (DILLINGER) HELLER. He married Viola MRAS on May 25, 1946, at St James Catholic church in Vesper. He was a patrolman for the Wood County Highway Department and retired in May of 1974. He was a member of St. James Catholic church and Auburndale VFW Post 10162. He was drafted into the U. S. Army on July 1, 1942, and served in the African Theater. He was taken as a Prisoner of War at Volturno, Italy, on October 13, 1943, until April 11, 1945. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three bronze service stars, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged in October 1945. Survivors include his wife, Viola; one daughter, Elaine (Kenneth) FREDRICK of Wisconsin Rapids; one son, Marvin of Vesper, three sisters, Norma MARTH of Auburndale, Florence KASTLER of Chicago, and Lucille PEGELOW of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers (John and Edmond). Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Joan M.
