Becker Road, died at 1pm Thursday, June 21, 2001 at St Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit, where he had been admitted on June 18. Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield, with the Rev Charles D. STOETZEl, pastor of St John's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Mr. GUST was born Jan 24, 1913, in Auburndale to Jacob and Catherine (nee ZETTLER) GUST. He attended school in Auburndale and married Margaret K BELL on March 4, 1935, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bakerville. After his education, Jake farmed in the town of Marshfield. While farming, he also was employed at Roddis Plywood Corp, later becoming Weyerhaeuser Co. for more than 40 years until his retirement. Jake worked at St Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop until his illness. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of St John's Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society; the knights of Columbus John Eisen Council 1799 and the Squared Circle Boxing Club. He is survived by his children, Bernice (DuWayne) KNAJDEK, St Paul, MN; Shirley KULIBERT, Auburndale; Florence CARTER, Arcadia, FL; Darlene WEICHELT, Wisconsin Rapids, and Don (Lori) GUST, Woodbury, MN; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; two sisters, Doris REED, in IL and Emma MEWS of Marshfield and three brothers, Martin GUST, Waukegan, IL; Harold Sr. (SARA) GUST, Marshfield and Florian (Carol) GUST, Auburndale. He was predeceased by his wife on May 19, 1979; by his parents' seven brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, the family will designate a memorial in his name at a later date.
