I am looking for a Seth Reeves, birth date and place unknown; apparently died c1937 in Cook Co., IL. He was married to Charlotte Jane Lowman/Lohman/Loman; she was born c1887 and died Nov 19, 1929 in Indiana. I am aware of only one child from this marriage - a Stechley Gaylord Reeves born Dec 16, 1904 in Richview, IL. I did come across a reference of Seth Reeves as the first mayor of Grand Rapids WI and was wondering if he might some how be connected to my Seth Reeves. Does anyone have information on Mayor Reeves and his descendants who might be able to shed some light? Thanks, Ed Crabtree - KCMO
I found the following on Seth Reeves in Dave Engel's Books. Buffard Kirtley Reeves Volume 2 Nan Reeves Volume 2 Bob Reeves Volume 6 Delbert Reeves Volume 6 Seth Reeves Volume 6. I have not checked two of his Book Fat Memories or Volume 5. I don't have those in my computer bank yet. Marlys

I found Seth Reeves listed as head of household for a sawmill boarding house, dwelling/family 104-96. The census taker recorded that Seth was 27 yrs old, occupation sawyer, and was born in England. The next person listed in the household was Elizabeth Reeves, presumably a wife or sister. Nearly all of the people in the household were sawyers or laborers in the sawmill. I did not notice any other Reeves in the 1860 census of Grand Rapids, this might be the fellow you are seeking, or his father? Best wishes, Joan M.
