He was born June 22, 1920 to George and Marie (HAYEK) SKON in St Paul, MN. He married Margaret PENGRA on June 11, 1938 in St Paul. George served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, from 1942 through 1945 in quartermaster and ordnance. He owned and operated Central Minnesota Hearing Center for 39 years. George was active in many organizations; financial liaison for the Shriner's Hospital, Wadena Masonic Lodge #156, Commandery and Chapter of Fergus Falls, York Rite and Scottish Rite, Zuhrah Temple, Honorary Life Member of Osmon Temple, Bireck Shrine Club in Brainerd, DAV, American Legion Post #456 in Sebeka, and Wadena Elks. George is survived by his wife, Margaret "Muggs"; three sons, Gary L (Katharine) SKON of Pittsville, Douglas (Colette) SKON of Minocqua, and Robert (Shirley) SKON of Bemidji; a daughter-in-law, Irene SKON of Wadena; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie MILLER of St Paul; and one brother, Monroe SKON of Brooklyn Park, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, George Jr; a granddaughter, Monica; three sisters, Elden HOERCHNER, Irene FAUST, and Maria WESLEY. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec 28, 2000 at the Bielema Family Funeral Home in Wadena with Rev Murray JACOBSON officiating. Burial was in the Wadena cemetery. Joan M.
