    3. Posted on: Wood Co. Wi Obits Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/WoodObits?read=231 Surname: ALBEE, JOHNSON ------------------------- Mrs Hannah (John) ALBEE Obit taken from the Wood County Reporter, Volume 64 Number 4, Thursday Jan 23, 1912, Page 1 Death of Mrs. Hannah (John) ALBEE Mrs Hannah ALBEE died at her residence on Jackson Street Thursday morning, at 7:23, after a lingering illness of over four weeks duration. Her death was due to a general breakdown in health caused from old age. Mrs ALBEE has been in poor health since last summer and about five weeks ago she suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which she steadily grew worse until the end came Thursday morning. Mrs ALBEE was one of the oldest residents of Wood County. She was born in Mill's Yard, Yorkshire England, Jun 26th, 1832, making her 80 years of age June 26, 1912. She left England Dec 13, 1857 and after landing in NY, she came onward to Wausau, arriving there Jan 16, 1858. She came to Wood County in 1859 and has been a continuous resident since. She was married to John ALBEE in 1865, and he preceded her in death in 1902. She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, W A JOHNSON, a child of a former marriage in England. Mrs ALBEE has always followed the profession of nursing and was one of the first and earliest nurses in this part of the country, unfailing and tireless in her devotion to the sick. Her one other great interest in life was her religion, she has always been a staunch Episcopalian, and it was largely due to her efforts that the present Episcopalian church was established here. The funeral was held at St John's church Saturday forenoon at ten o'clock. Mrs ALBEE was well known and respected by all and in her death we have lost another of the pioneers who did so much toward upbuilding the community in its early days. Joan M.
