He retired Tuesday evening after planning his next day's work without a complaint as to any pain or unusual feeling. Wednesday morning, at about five o'clock, his wife awoke and found her husband had been dead several hours. Mr ZENIER had died as he always lived, at peace with all mankind. Mr George ZENIER was born in Metz, France, April 14, 1815 and came to this country when a young man, in 1839. He settled at New Orleans where he remained 14 years. He then moved to this city where he was married to Mrs Louise BUBLOZ in 1853. This union was blessed with three children, two boys and one daughter, all of whom survive him, George, Alex and Mrs Emma BENNEDICT. He also leaves his helpmeet and three step-children, two daughters and one son: Helen THOMPSON, who preceded him in death several years ago; Mrs Harriet BIRON, of Merrill, and Charley BUBLOZ, who resides near Plainfield, WI. Mr ZENIER was a kind and affectionate husband; an indulgent and devoted father; a kind neighbor and a good citizen with whom it was always a pleasure to meet. He was a man of good habits, industrious and sensitive to a fault. The funeral services will take place at the Opera House Saturday afternoon. The funeral service of Hon Lewis THOMPSON, who died at his home at Buxton on Friday last, was held at the Lutheran church of Buxton on Sabbath afternoon. Reverend PHILLIPS of Cummings and Reverend Oftendahl of Buxton conducting the service in both American and Scandinavian langauges. The Odd Fellows fraternity, of which the deceased was long an honored member, took part in the service, the lodges of Grand Forks, Hillsboro, Caledonia, Mayville, Northwood and Hatton sending delegations, about one hundred members in all. The church edifice was elaborately decorated for the occasion by Mr and Mrs KNEELNAD of Hillsboro under the direction of the Odd Fellows of Buxton. Mr THOMPSON was a brother-in-law to Messrs A and S J ABRAHAMSEN of this city, and had a large circle of friends throughout the Red River Valley and the entire state. Mr THOMPSON's death was preceded by that of his wife by only about two weeks, so that his family of four children, aged between 3 and 8 years, are left to the care of relatives. M. HAWLEY, 1821-1874 Our people will be surprised to learn of the death of our old townsman, Mr L M HAWLEY. His death was caused by a stroke of paralysis. We knew Mr HAWLEY in Utica, NY when a young man. He was a man with considerable versatility of talent, as genial as the sunshine, and earnest lover and a most bitter hater, generous to a fault and as full of tricks as a trick mule. We shall always remember Lem, for we loved him in spite of his peculiarities. The following we clip from the St. Paul Pioneer: Mr L M HAWLEY, of this city, received a stroke of paralysis yesterday morning, which caused his death within an hour. Mr HAWLEY had resided in Minneapolis for three years, and had become quite generally known and possessed a large circle of friends. He was an Odd Fellow, and was esteemed as a past Grand Master of North Star Lodge No. 16, Past Chief Patriot and Past High Priest of SCHILLER Encampment. Since last Saturday he has been confined to the house with a form of erysipelas, which appeared on his face. But aside from this, he appeared to be in his usual health. Hence the suddenness of his death is a great shock to his friends and to the community. Mr HAWLEY was 53 years old at the time of his death. He leaves two children, William B HAWLEY, book-keeper for BEDFORD, BOYCE & BAKER, and Mrs Thomas McCRACKEN whose husband is with J S Pillsbury & Company. Mr HAWLEY will be buried by the Odd Fellows with appropriate ceremonies. Joan M BENNER, Golden Rule Genealogy Member, Association of Professional Genealogists Rootsweb Sponsor

Mr CIRKEL was aware of the stove's condition on at least one occasion, when a gentlemen friend spent the night with him and in the morning was deathly sick from the effects of the gas which escaped from the stove. This incident did not seem to alarm Mr CIRKEL, for he told his friends several times that the gas had no effect on him and that he was used to it. Mr CIRKEL was a very popular man and was well-known throughout the northern part of the state, and had hosts of friends in this city who will grieve over his sad death. He was a hard worker and successful in all of his business undertakings. William F CIRKEL was born in Appleton, WI, Nov 14, 1857, and a graduate of Lawrence University. In 1885 he was elected to the Assembly from Outagamie Co and in 1892 was a delegate to the democratic State Convention from Chippewa Co, WI. He was also a presidential elector on the Democratic ticket in 1892. He served two terms as mayor of the City of Seymour and moved to Cadott suring the year 1887, where he established a plant for the manufacture of staves, heading, etc. The deceased leaves a father and mother who reside in Minneapolis, two brothers who live in Boyd and one in TN. A sister also survives him. The arrangements for the funeral have not been completed yet, according to the Chippewa Herald. Wi Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/Wood/753 Surname: HAWLEY, McCRACKEN ------------------------- L M HAWLEY taken from the Wood County Reporter, Volume XVIII No 1, Thursday Dec 31, 1874, Pg 5, and the St Paul (MN) Pioneer Death of L. Mr. HAWLEY will be buried by the Odd Fellows with appropriate ceremonies.
